Broadly we can distinguish 3 types or categories of corporate purpose:
1. Maximizing shareholders' value
2. Maximizing stakeholders' value
3. Striving for a higher ideal or moral purpose.
Combinations of these 3 are also thinkable, such as Porter's shared value, which aims at creating economic value by creating societal value.
